Day-by-Day Itinerary
A daily route covering the full 18-day safari, transfers, activities, lodges, and meals.
On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be greeted by your guide and transferred to your accommodation. Spend the day visiting the Entebbe Botanical Gardens, a beautiful green space filled with exotic plants and birds, including the famous African grey parrot. Enjoy a sunset over Lake Victoria or visit local craft markets.

After breakfast, Kick start your ultimate Uganda safari with a drive to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (about 2 hours), where you'll have a guided Rhino tracking experience. From there continue your safari to Murchison Falls National Park (approximately 3–4 hours). Check in at the lodge of your choice and enjoy the evening.

Rested and refreshed set off early for a game drive in Murchison Falls to catch sight of wildlife like elephants, giraffes, lions, and buffaloes. In the afternoon, take a boat cruise along the Nile River to the base of Murchison Falls. Here you will witness the roaring waterfall and spot hippos and crocodiles lazily lounging in the still waters around the falls to the chirping and singing of numerous wild bird species.

After your adventure at the Murchison Falls National Park, drive south (about 5 hours). The journey is punctuated with pristine natural forests and crowned with the tea plantations before arriving in the Tourism city. On arrival you will check into your lodge, relax, and enjoy the surroundings. Here you will experience a night life style and entertainment before retiring to the hotel.

Your Semuliki National Park safari will start with an excursion to the Sempaya Hot Springs. Here you will have a choice to view the female spring (Nyansimbi) which is large and boiling, symbolizes fertility and vitality, while the male spring (Bitente), smaller and calmer, represents strength and wisdom. Revered by the Bamaga community, these springs blend cultural significance with natural beauty, offering visitors a unique glimpse into Uganda’s traditions, geothermal wonders and the surrounding rainforest. You may also encounter local wildlife, including vavet monkeys and various bird species.

He we come to terms with the encounter of our next of keen the chimpanzee Kibale National Park. Start your Kibale National Park adventure with an early morning trek to catch sight of chimpanzees. You will get tolearn about these incredible primates. In the afternoon, enjoy a visit to Bigodi Wetlands, a hotspot for birdwatchers, where you can spot rare species and wildlife.
In the same afternoon, you will transfer to Ibanda in Kasese for overnight. In the evening you will meet with your guide and the porters who will comprise your team and will have a briefing about your mighty climb of the mountains of the moon.
Where to Stay: Base Camp or Ruboni community- at the gateway of the Rwenzori. Dinner will be served here.
Rwenzori National Park is the 3rd highest mountain range of Africa. Known in ancient Greece as The Mountains of the Moon, these snowcapped peaks offer incredible opportunity to see chimpanzees, rare chameleons, six different eco-zones, beautiful lakes, fast flowing rivers, waterfalls and much more. There are many varieties of monkeys, African mountain goats and large variety of birds including the Rwenzori Turaco which is endemic. There are even forest elephants in the mountains as well as the African snow leopard.
The climb to the top of Margherita is not difficult, and you cross glaciers while standing almost at the equator. The elevation of Margherita peak is 5,109 meters above sea level. The Rwenzori Mountains are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and RAMSAR Site.
We begin the journey at Nyakalengija (1615m) to Nyabitaba camp hut (2651m)
Hiking starts from the park headquarters (1646m) to Nyabitaba, a distance of 10 kilometers ascent that takes 4-5 hours to walk. The trail at the beginning goes through homes, and dense bushes. Certain animals such as monkeys, three horned chameleon and the Rwenzori turaco may be spotted.
From Nyabitaba you descend to your right trail that drops down through the bamboo forest, boggy, slippery moss-covered rocks. This takes 5-6 hours. In the same trail, Mount Speke and Mount Stanley can be seen before getting into the zone of the giant lobelia and groundsel. Overnight at John Maate Hut.
From John Maate Hut, the trail drops down to cross the two Bigo Bogs, which are often knee-deep in mud, through a boardwalk has been constructed; Lake Bujuku has a magnificent setting between mounts Speke, Stanley and Baker. This is a 3-5 hours walk. Overnight at Bujuku Hut
The trail takes you through more bog, while climbing the steep slopes west of the lake, to Elena Hut and Mount Stanley on a steep trail over large boulders.
Our target here is climbing the highest peak. Elena is often referred to as the snow line. Shall have an early dinner and overnight at the coolly and icy Elena Hut. Sleeping early is to re-energize and be able to conger the summit of Margherita.
Wakeup to an early morning bird to reach Margherita peak, shall go through the base of Stanley glacier. To reach the summit of Margherita, the climb takes about 3 hours depending on the weather conditions. We shall then descend for Overnight at Kitandara Hut.
This stage starts with a steep ascent to the fresh field pass (4282) From Kitandara; take on the trail that ascends. Overnight at Guy yeoman.
The descend to Nyabitaba takes 6-7 hours, walking; you will have an opportunity to see parts of Bunya DRC while on this trail/section.
This descending walk takes 2-3 hours. We return to Kasese and will stay one night in the Gem of the Pearl of Africa. Margaritah Hotel or Mweya Safari Lodge for overnight and Relaxing.
Notes for the Rwenzori Hike: carry along your rain gear, respect others while sharing huts in the mountains, limit talking, the high altitude and wet cold weather conditions can affect any traveler be it experienced or un experienced. Altitude sicknesses are common to hikers and if you experience it take a lot of fluids. Ensure you have warm clothes all the time. For hygiene purposes we have our customized sleeping packs. All breakfast, lunch and dinner is part of the package.
Once at Queen Elizabeth kick start your safari with a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains to spot lions, elephants, and buffaloes.

Start the day with a follow up thrilling game drive in Kasenyi Plains, known for its high concentration of wildlife. Shall wake up to a game drive of Queen NP with packed breakfast. Queen Elizabeth National Park has magnificent views down to the Great Rift Valley floor that is occupied by Lake Edward and Gorge which connect through the Kazinga Channel. Besides the stunning scenery, it is a well-known habitat for about 95 mammals along with 612 species of birds. It’s here that you will have an opportunity to be at the Equator in the wild where you will make a stop for photo opportunity. You will also so have a view of the snowcapped mountains of the moon while at the equator. You will have an opportunity to touch the mating ground of the Uganda Kobs, have a glance at the lions, elephants, buffaloes and other wild animals in their natural habitat.
Have refreshment at the Queens pavilion. Shall then head back to Mweya Lodge for lunch. At 2:00pm go for a boat drive along the Kazinga Channel for 2 hrs exclusively. Return for dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge. The climax at Queen Elizabeth National Park is the boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural channel between Lake Edward and Lake George. Here you will see the abundant bird life of the channel and the elephants, buffaloes and hundreds of hippos that are cooling off at the shores, this cruise will definitely be one of the Key moments of your safari.
Wake up have breakfast at 9:00am and set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through Ishasha. Ishaha is popularly known for climbing lions. Check in at Buhoma Lodge. Gather in the evening for a debrief of the day and plan for the following day.
Early in the morning at7:30am shall head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to encounter the mighty Mountain Gorillas. At this point each one shall have to check their cameras and ensuring that they are in good working condition. Rwenzori Safaris team will verify and determine the family your tracking.
We shall carry along packed breakfast and at 8:30am shall gather at assembly point for briefing before starting the journey to track the gorillas. We shall have packed lunch and water. Your ultimate life experience will be the encounter with the Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park tucked away in the south-western corner of Uganda. Mountain Gorillas live in structured groups with defined home ranges. A meeting with the gentle giants of Bwindi! Especially hikers will love tracking in the beautiful ecosystem of the park. No use of flash is allowed.
Return back in the afternoon from the forest to the hotel for resting. We shall after resting gather in the evening to evaluate the day and refocus your minds for the remaining days ahead. Shall transfer in the afternoon to Lake Bunyonyi for overnight at Itambira Island seeds of Hope Resort.
